Nello Cristianini is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Bath from 2023, after having been a Professor of Artificial Intelligence in Bristol and a professor of statistics at the University of California, Davis. His research interests are in machine learning and artificial intelligence, their theory, and applications to the social sciences. Cristianini holds a PhD from the University of Bristol, a MSc from Royal Holloway, University of London and a BSc in Physics from the University of Trieste. Besides co-authoring various technical articles and books on machine learning and AI, he is the author of “The shortcut – why intelligent machines do not think like us”, published by CRC Press in 2023.
