Born in the UK, Matt Dampier’s childhood was marked by an unconventional upbringing, where he spent time living in Oman in the Persian Gulf and Cyprus in the Mediterranean. Immersed in diverse cultures from an early age, Matt’s thirst for travel grew stronger as time went by. Initially pursuing a career as an international horse trainer and riding instructor, Matt’s work took him far and wide, providing him with a unique vantage point of the world.
Transitioning into aviation, Matt then spent twenty-five years calling Canada home while working as a pilot. Flying across continents offered him a unique view of landscapes and civilizations, fueling his curiosity and artistic inspiration. With each journey, Matt absorbed the nuances of different cultures, further enriching his view of the world. Three years ago, Matt decided to pivot towards his lifelong passion for art. Enrolling in Sheridan College, he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to honing his craft. Graduating with honours, Matt emerged as a skilled fine artist, ready to embark on a new chapter in his life. Drawing from his extensive experiences and global perspectives while integrating his love of science fiction, Matt’s artwork captures the essence of humanity and the beauty of our world and imagination.
